When wall space is limited or glazing goes floor to ceiling, a floor-standing console unit provides the same efficient cooling and heating as a wall-mounted system — positioned on the floor against the wall. We install floor-standing air conditioning units across Leicester for homes and businesses.

Floor-standing air conditioning units — also known as console units or floor-ceiling units — provide an effective solution in rooms where wall-mounted installation is not practical. This includes conservatories where the wall area is occupied by glazing, rooms with vaulted or pitched ceilings that make wall-mounting difficult, large high-volume rooms that benefit from dual airflow (downward from ceiling height and upward from floor level), and commercial spaces with full-height glazed facades.
Floor-standing units operate in both upward-blowing mode (for even distribution in large rooms) and can be ceiling-mounted in some configurations where required. They are available in larger capacities than many wall-mounted units, making them well-suited to large living rooms, showrooms and open-plan commercial spaces. We assess the room, calculate the heat load and determine whether a floor-standing unit is the right solution or whether a cassette or ducted unit would better suit your requirements.
Conservatories present a particular challenge for wall-mounted units because most of the wall area is glazed. A floor-standing unit positioned under or between glazed panels solves this — providing effective year-round climate control without compromising the glazed appearance.
We assess your room, check wall availability and ceiling height, and recommend the right unit type and size for your space. We cover Leicester and surrounding areas — free, no obligation.

Some floor-standing models are designed to be installed in either position — floor-standing or ceiling-mounted. This is useful in rooms where neither the wall nor the floor offers a suitable position. We'll advise on dual-mount options during the survey if relevant to your space.
The outdoor unit is connected via refrigerant pipework that runs through the wall behind or beside the indoor unit — the same as a wall-mounted installation. We plan the pipe run route during the survey and encase exposed pipework in matching trunking.
Correct sizing depends on the room volume, glazing area, insulation and heat sources present. For conservatories, we calculate the solar heat gain through the glazing as well as the room dimensions — conservatories often require a larger unit than a similarly sized conventional room.
